The MLiD Lab

Machine Learning, informatics and Datamining Lab

"We have data, now what?"

We live in a world that generates large amounts of data. The big challenge is how to take that data and turn it into knowledge (i.e., ordered data, put in context that can be used). In the MLiD lab, we use big data and machine learning to tackle pressing problems in biology, medicine and health care.

What are the tools of the trade?

We use a number of different tools such as machine learning techniques (e.g., neural nets, deep networks, support vector machines) and high performance computing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, CUDA). These tools are state-of-the-art and value in both industry and academia.
